Millionaires = Apocalypse?

Millionaires are ruining music! The songs made by the Huntington Beach duo—Melissa Marie Green and Allison Green —will make you want to gouge out your ears. They are the downfall of society! 2011, the year their debut full-length is scheduled to come out, will probably bring the Apocalypse.

Wait a second. That can’t be true. Catchy, fun electro-trash-pop songs made by cute, foul-mouthed girls who are both under 21 - That can’t possibly be the thing that ends the world, can it? Truth is, their songs aren't gonna ruin anything… except maybe the credibility of some Internet haters when it turns out they like Millionaires.

The girls get it! They know their band started as an accident, when Melissa Marie and Allison started f-cking around on GarageBand one day in the summer of 2007 and made their first song “I Like Money.” They know it’s been a combination of a strong DIY work ethic, a unique sense of style and a willingness to put their fast-talking, in-your-face songs into the scrutiny of the public that’s transformed them from a one-time joke to a serious band. They know it takes guts to write bouncy, hooky, indefinable songs about alcohol and sex and boys—and to perform those songs on stage during their unstoppable live shows. They know it takes determination and steadfast self-promotion to sell out two headlining tour before ever releasing an album. They know the album they’ve been working on is going to be gobbled up by haters and fans alike. That’s another thing: Millionaires are aware that a lot people have a lot of nasty things to say about them and their music. And you know what? They don’t give a sh-t!

We are talking pop meets rap with a hip hop beat driven style of that is 100% dance music that has no screaming, almost no actual singing and tons of filthy language. Millionaires are the kind of group you are either going absolutely love or immediately despise. There is very little room for someone to be a fence-listener when it comes to this duo and they'll never apologize for that. Those of you who "get it" are about to discover music that is as addictive as your favorite sweet n' sour treat!

Spring Fever!

Being a venue housed in one of the oldest standing night clubs in Salt Lake City there is always a lot of up keep going on.  Our crew has been hard at work all winter remodeling the bathrooms, bar area and fashioning our new VIP sections. If you haven't seen it yet you really should!

Spring is here and with the warm weather comes all the shows, bands and concerts you want to see! In the Venue has been gearing up for the summer season and a major cleaning has been under way. The bar has been scrubbed down and deep cleaned. The stage was taken completely apart, cleaned, all our equipment organized. We even fine tuned some of the balance pieces to ensure the highest stability for all your crazy bands and our awesome club night patrons. Our technical staff has been working non stop to get all of our sound and light equipment maintained and tuned up. Even the deck is getting a spring face lift after the harsh winter!

Summer is just around the corner, so many great bands to see and killer music to be heard! We will be ready - are you?

Do you feel lucky Salt Lake City?

 You should! Want to know why? Salt Lake is one of only 21 US cities to have gotten a booked tour date for the infamous and elusive Lords of Acid on their Sonic Angels tour!This will be the only US tour this year (or for who knows how long?!) March is THE month, the ONLY month to see them and In the Venue is bringing them to you! Mark your calendars, get your tickets now - March 8th, doors at 7!

The inside scoop is that they will be premiering a couple brand new songs – the first in over a decade! This show is unbelievable, mind altering, one of a kind… but don’t just take my word for it “Ah, Lords of Acid: Lusty pleather, bondage a-go-go, cyber-punk fishnets and a flurry of kaleidoscopic LSD imagery that could give anyone … an instant seizure.” to quote Jen Boyles of Houston Press Music

The touring lineup for the band includes:
Praga Khan (Lords of Acid, Original member) - Male Vocals; From his first single "I Sit On Acid" released in 1988 to the present, Belgium's Praga Khan remains one of the most innovative acid house musicians in circulation. Thanks to extensive experimentation with drugs, Crowley-ian sex magic, and esoteric paths of self-deprivation and mutilation known only to himself, this orgiastic orchestrator created the Lords of Acid to further encapsulate the seductive messages and raw sex of his ever-evolving musical vision. From the raw carnality of their 1991 release Lust, to the electro-thrash of 2000's Farstucker. Lords of Acid has re-defined the pure pleasures of drugs, hedonism, and deviant sex for nearly twenty-two years. Now, despite numerous lineup changes, world tours, 1.5 million album sales, and every possible point of crisis and conflict a band can face, Lords of Acid is returning to the unsuspecting United States again, this time with a new crew of deviants, dilettantes, and sonically transmitted diseases.

DJ Mea (Me and My Machine) - Female Vocals;
DJ/Mixing expertise with innovation, combining her powerful voice with a dazzling stage presence, Mea pioneers a new place for women in the dj world…
Her bold style and turntable mastery prompted DMA magazine to hail this petite performer “The Madonna of the New Millennium” on its July 2001 cover. In an always exciting show this dynamic diva combines live freestyle vocals over a versatile set ranging from progressive-tech house to intelligent breaks, as well as introducing new singles with catchy lyrics written by Méa herself.
From her youth Mea was schooled in piano, violin, guitar, drums, dance, and, of course, voice. Her trademark sound being her freestyle vocals layered over an original house mix track of her own, creating that unique Mea effect.

Kirk Salvador (Society 1) - Drums;
Murv3 (Powerman 5000) - Bass;

Returning from last year's Lords of Acid Sextreme Ball tour with the Kill Thrill Kult - all-stars Murv3 and Kik Salvador.

Virus (Dope) - Guitar;
Joining the Lords of Acid on lead guitar is Virus, singer/songwriter, guitarist, producer, most recognized for playing lead guitar for the American Industrial Metal/rock band Dope.

This tour also features the Austrialian cyberpunks Angelspit

– featuring Destroyx's vocals and ZooG's synths and effects. Angelspit will be releasing their newest CD ‘Carbon Beauty' the VERY DAY of the Salt Lake City show!
Long known for their incredible two-person stage show, Angelspit has announced that this tour will be the final tour under the current line-up. Details are being kept
closely-guarded, but Angelspit has made it clear that the Lords of Acid/Angelspit tour will be fans’ last chance to view Angelspit in their current incarnation.

I missed it last time and will NOT be making that mistake again! Definitely come and get your freak on; who knows when (or if) they'll ever be back!
